In a move that has sparked both bewilderment and outrage among healthcare professionals, Elon Musk has announced that his latest rebranding venture will involve changing the name of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter (briefly known as X) to "RX." The move, intended to signify a "prescription for the future of social media," has left pharmacists across the nation scratching their heads—and not just in confusion over how this idea ever got approved.
Pharmacists, already inundated with hundreds of daily prescription requests, now find themselves fielding endless inquiries from customers attempting to "refill their Twitter." Local pharmacy chains are reporting that their call centers are overwhelmed, as customers mistakenly believe they need to renew their "RX" accounts before they expire.
"People are showing up with printed screenshots of their Twitter profiles, asking if they need a new prescription from their doctor to keep tweeting," said one exasperated pharmacist from Des Moines, who wished to remain anonymous. "I had to explain to one gentleman that Elon Musk is not, in fact, a licensed prescriber."
Adding to the confusion, some pharmacists are receiving frantic calls from doctors trying to decode what "posting a meme" on RX means in medical terms. "One doctor thought his patient was requesting a digital prescription for something called 'MuskModem,'" reported another pharmacy professional.
The National Association of Pharmacists (NAP) has issued an official statement condemning the rebranding as "an egregious act of marketing malpractice." They are currently drafting a strongly worded letter to Musk, which will be delivered in a blister pack for added effect.
